As the newest division of Gerber Scientific, Gerber Innovations continues the company's legacy of eliminating labor-intensive tasks through timesaving devices. Its revolutionary Gerber Profile Die Tool Production System represents a whole new concept in flat steel rule die fabrication. Its latest breakthrough product, The Gerber Sector Coating Blanket Production System, automates the production of coating blankets used in commercial and package printing. Both of these innovative products exemplify Gerber's deep technical capability in computerized cutting, plotting and machining.
Gerber Innovations was initially formed to apply these leading-edge engineering skills to the diemaking production process. Division engineers spent more than two years investigating the unique work flow and process requirements of the packaging industry, identifying several segments as potential beneficiaries of Gerber's expertise in world-class motion control technology.
One of these segments the company identified was within the commercial and package printing industries. Gerber uncovered a technology gap within this segment relating to the production of coating blankets - which had previously been cut manually on-press, cut using large CAD tables (normally used to cut packaging samples) or produced by photopolymer process. The introduction of the Gerber Sector system has revolutionized the way these blankets are produced for spot, knock-out and flood applications.
Our mission is to serve as Gerber Scientific's development arm within the printing and packaging industries, applying the company's proven technologies, and devising new technologies, to propel the printing and packaging industries into the 21st century.
